Our Kirikiriroa (Hamilton) site is seeking a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join us on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team that are focused on working with whānau to support their tamariki and rangatahi to realise their full potential. We also work in partnership with Te Haumirimiri Ngākau Mokopuna (Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust, Tu Oho Mai, and K'Aute Pasifika) these community organisations work with us and are involved in assessing reports of concerns that are sent to Oranga Tamarki. We also work with Waikato Tainui Mokopuna Ora service who support whānau that are engaged with us. These partnerships are exciting and demonstrate community engagement in action.

- The salary range is $76,284 - $94,715, depending on experience

Mō te tūnga | About the role
The positions are based in the Kaiwhakaemi Team (begin to assess/collate/gather information to address a report of concern - Intake) You will be based in teams of 4-5 social workers with a supervisor. The key requirements of these roles are to be able to:
- Hear tamariki and rangatahi voices and support them or their whānau to make positive changes
- Work with various cultural groups and people from different backgrounds
- Complete initial safety checks and assessments on the tamariki, rangatahi and whānau
- Hold whānau hui on a regular basis; supporting whānau to grow their capacity to care for their tamariki and rangatahi
- Dealing with very complex tamariki and rangatahi that have experienced trauma and managing these situations
- Working in a high-pressure environment on a daily basis with good time management skills
- Show resiliency in high pressure, complex and often crisis-based situations
- Be involved in planning interventions to maintain tamariki and rangatahi within their whānau
- Work alongside partners in our community, non-government organisations and state sector agencies
- Be an advocate on behalf of tamariki and rangatahi to ensure they have the support and resources needed to reach their full potential
