BLS-HCP Required
The Sonographer DEXA Tech works independently in coordination with other Imaging Services and
FHC staff, ra! diologists, cardiologists and other physicians, to provide ultrasound and bone density
services. Performs a variety of ultrasound procedures, cardiac and general, utilizing ultrasound
equipment, and bone density studies utilizing DEXA technology. Provides care to patients ranging in
age from neonatal to geriatric. Provides for the physical and psychological needs of patients during
examination.
Qulaifications:
1. Current RDMS certification required. RDCS certification in Adult Echocardiography, Abdominal
Sonography, OB/GYN Sonography, or Vascular Technology preferred .
2. Current Montana State license in Radiologic Technology required.
3. 2-4 years of ultrasound experience preferred.
4. HCP BLS required.
5. ACLS preferred.
6. Capable of multi-tasking to maintain daily patient workload, i.e., STAT exams and add-on procedures.
7. Good communication skills, both verbal and written required.
8. Self-starter wit! h proven organizational skills required. Must be able to think! and function independently,
as well as, as a team member.
9. Equipment and systems experience:
- Familiar with a wide range of ultrasound systems related to the above examinations and the
- Solid knowledge and experience in reporting and display systems for cardiologist/radiologist
- Knowledge and experience in digital computer system for acquiring, storing and retrieving current
Job Duties:
1. * Responsible for proper operation of the ultrasound equipment. Trains new employees, ensures proper
equipment maintenance, supply ordering within budgetary guidelines.
2. * Obtain, review and bring together pertinent patient history, physical examinations and supporting clinical
data to facilitate diagnostic re! sults. Prepare patient procedure rooms. Set up equipment, turn on all
machines and obtain supplies.
3. * Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures by producing, assessing, and evaluating images and related
data that is used by physicians and read for a medical diagnosis.
4. * Provide interpreting physicians with an oral or written summary of technical findings.
5. * Assist with problem-solving through peer and management collaboration, physician interaction,
resource knowledge.
6. * Communicates effectively when dealing with peers, patients, general public, and fellow staff members.
7. * Perform clerical duties and paperwork as needed.
