JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Performs two and/or three dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for ! the diagnosis of disease and study of the malfunction of organs. Provides ultrasonic guidance for invasive procedures. Participates in CQI and QA procedures.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Must be a new graduate of an approved School of Ultrasound technology or have 1-3 years experience performing ultrasound procedures in a hospital setting is required. Knowledge in all aspects of sonography, including vasculary, abdominal, OB/GYN and interventional work, assisting the physician with thoracentesis, amniocentesis, biopsies, OR procedure guidance, etc. Can work with all ultrasound equipment or the ability to learn the use of the equipment.
EDUCATION: Graduate from an approved AMA school of ultrasound technology or 3-5 years in a hospital setting performing ultrasound procedures full time and eligible to take the registery in one or more modalities required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Registered by the ARDMS in either Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular is p! referred. (Must be willing to get registered in more then one ! registry). Current BCLS is required.
APTITUDES: Demonstrated ability to effectively and creatively solve problems with a minimum of immediate supervision Demonstrated ability to plan and use time wisely. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with patients/families who may be under physical and emotional stress. Gather and exchange information effectively with nursing personnel, physicians, and customers. Ability to enter data accurately using the computer.
